New Delhi: It’s inevitable. All good things must come to an end, goes the oft-repeated cliché. Its common sense, a middle aged man can’t go on forever, we are told. However, for a generation that has grown up watching Tendulkar through his ungainly crotch movements as much as his countless classics, the sight of an Indian middle order without Sachin Tendulkar’s name sitting pretty at number four in the batting order is perhaps the worst nightmare.
As the dreaded R word rears its ugly head again, Tendulkar, it is learnt, is going about his usual business with dogged tenacity. He has hit the nets again, is keen to do well in the upcoming Champions League T20, and has told media that he will decide on retirement on match-by-match basis.
